Delete your account
and everything we stored
You can ask us to permanently delete your EZ Website Backup account at any time, for any reason, without giving a justification. This page explains exactly how to ask, exactly what gets erased, and the small amount of information we are required to keep.

How to request deletion
EZ Website Backup does not currently have a self-service "delete my account" button inside the app. To delete your account, email us from the address you signed up with:
Account deletion request
We action deletion requests within 30 days of receiving them, and in practice usually within a few business days. We'll send you one confirmation email when it's done, then that address is gone from our systems too.
What is deleted
Everything below is permanently and irreversibly erased. It is not soft-deleted, archived, or moved to a "deleted" table — the rows and the files are removed.
-
Your account record
Your name, email address, hashed password, email-verification timestamp and account creation date (the
usersrow). -
The stored site mirrors — the actual copies of the websites you backed up
This is the big one. When you run a backup, we download the pages, images, stylesheets, scripts, fonts, media and documents of the target site and store that mirror on our server's disk, in a private per-backup folder that is not publicly reachable. On deletion, every one of those folders belonging to you is recursively deleted from disk. Nothing is copied to any third-party object store — we do not use Amazon S3 or any external bucket for these mirrors, so there are no external copies to chase.
-
Your backup (crawl) history
Every backup job you ever started: the URLs and hostnames you pointed us at, your crawl settings, page/file/byte counters, timestamps, error messages, and the IP address recorded with the job for abuse-prevention.
-
The file index of every backup
The per-file records describing what was captured — URLs, paths, filenames, file types, sizes and HTTP statuses.
-
Any cookies or custom headers you supplied to a crawl
If you pasted session cookies or a custom user-agent into a backup's options so it could capture a logged-in area of your own site, those were stored with that job's options and are destroyed with it.
-
Sessions and password-reset tokens
Your active login sessions and any outstanding password-reset tokens are cleared, signing you out everywhere.
What is retained, and why
-
Billing records — none, because we don't bill you
EZ Website Backup is currently free and does not take payments. We hold no card details, no payment history and no Stripe customer record for you, so there is nothing of that kind to retain or to delete. If paid plans are introduced later, invoices would have to be kept for the period Canadian tax law requires (currently six years) — and this page will be updated to say so before that ever applies to you.
-
Server logs
Our web server keeps ordinary access and error logs (IP address, timestamp, requested path) for a short period for security, abuse investigation and debugging. These are rotated and expire on their own; they are not part of your account, are not used to profile you, and we do not reconstruct a deleted account from them.
-
Email correspondence
The deletion request itself — the email you send us and our confirmation reply — is kept as the record that we honoured your request. If you'd rather we purge that too once it's actioned, say so in your email and we will.
-
Abuse and ban records
If an account was suspended for abuse (for example, mass-crawling sites the user did not own), we may retain a minimal record — an email hash and the reason — to stop the same actor immediately re-registering. This is a legitimate-interest retention, it is the minimum we can keep, and it does not apply to ordinary accounts.
We do not sell your data, we do not share it with advertisers, and we do not use it to train models. The archives you create are yours; we keep them only long enough to hand them to you.
