Terms of Use
and Acceptable Use Policy
These terms are the agreement between you and AI Canadian Solutions for the use of EZ Website Backup (the Service). Creating an account, signing in, or starting a backup means you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use the Service.

- Only point the crawler at sites you own or are authorized in writing to archive.
- We are a neutral technical pipeline. We do not choose your targets and we do not pre-screen them — you do, and you carry the legal responsibility for that choice.
- Do not use the Service to evade access controls, overload a server, harvest personal data, or clone a brand.
- The Service is provided as-is, in beta, with no uptime or completeness guarantee. Keep your own copies.
- If your use of the Service gets us sued or complained about, you cover us.
- Mirrors are automatically deleted from our servers 72 hours after a backup starts.
1. What the Service does
You submit a URL and crawl settings. Our servers fetch that URL and the documents it links to, over ordinary public HTTP(S), the same way a browser would, and store a temporary copy so you can browse the resulting file tree and download the files you select as a ZIP archive with links rewritten for offline use.
The Service is currently offered free of charge while in beta. We may introduce paid plans, change the free limits, or discontinue the Service at any time. We will not start charging for something you already paid for without telling you first.
2. Accounts and eligibility
- You must be at least 16 years old and legally able to enter into this agreement.
- You must give a real, working email address and verify it. Accounts are personal — do not share credentials or resell access.
- You are responsible for everything done through your account, including by anyone you let use it.
- One person may not operate multiple accounts to work around the rate limits in section 5.
- Tell us immediately at ezwebsitebackup@aicanadiansolutions.ca if you believe your account has been compromised.
3. Your warranty of authorization over target URLs
Each time you start a backup you must confirm this in the app (the ownership attestation checkbox). That confirmation is recorded against the job together with the target URL, the time, and the network address the request came from. It is a representation of fact by you, and we are entitled to rely on it.
"Authorized" means you own the site, you operate it, or you hold documented permission from the party that does — for example a written engagement letter, a migration mandate from the site owner, or a licence that expressly permits archival copying. A site being publicly reachable is not authorization. Terms of service on the target site, robots directives, and applicable copyright and computer-misuse law all continue to apply to you.
You are solely responsible for determining whether your use is lawful in your jurisdiction and in the jurisdiction of the target site, and for obtaining any consent required for personal data contained in the pages you copy.
4. Acceptable Use Policy
This section is part of the terms. Breaching it is grounds for immediate suspension without notice or refund. You must not use the Service, or attempt to use it, to do any of the following.
Copy any site, subdirectory, API, or file set you do not own and are not authorized to archive — including competitor sites, marketplaces, directories, news archives, and any site whose terms forbid automated copying.
Bypass, brute-force, guess, or reuse without permission any password, paywall, API key, token, session cookie, IP allowlist, CAPTCHA, WAF rule, or rate limiter. The cookie and user-agent fields exist so you can archive your own authenticated site with your own valid session — not to reach areas you were never granted access to.
Configure or run crawls in a way that degrades a target — excessive concurrency, near-zero delays against fragile hosts, repeated re-crawls of the same target to burn its bandwidth, or any use amounting to a denial-of-service, stress test, or extortion of a third party.
Collect personal information, contact lists, credentials, health, financial, biometric data or data about children, or any material you are not permitted to hold under applicable privacy law; scrape data for resale, spam, doxxing, or training datasets you have no rights to.
Reproduce a site you do not own in order to impersonate it, run a phishing or credential-harvesting page, host malware, commit fraud, or otherwise pass property that belongs to someone else off as your own.
Copy, redistribute, or republish copyrighted text, images, video, code, fonts, databases or paid content without the rights to do so.
Retrieve or store content that is illegal to possess or distribute where you are, including child sexual abuse material, terrorist content, or stolen data.
Probe, scan, reverse-engineer, or interfere with our infrastructure; submit internal, private, loopback or cloud-metadata addresses; try to reach another users jobs or files; automate the interface beyond normal use; or circumvent our quotas.
Operate the Service as a backend for your own product, or provide crawling-as-a-service to third parties, without a written agreement with us.
We also enforce technical guardrails: private and internal hosts are blocked, crawls are capped, and every job is tied to an account and network address. These guardrails are a backstop, not permission — staying inside them does not make an unauthorized crawl acceptable.
5. Service limits and fair use
Free beta accounts are currently subject to the limits below. They exist to keep the Service available for everyone and to keep any single crawl from becoming a burden on a target site. We may change them at any time.
| Backups running at once | 1 per account (2 per network) |
| Backups started per day | 10 per account (25 per network) |
| Downloaded per day | 2 GB per account (4 GB per network) |
| Pages per backup | up to 3,000 |
| Size per backup | up to 2 GB |
| Crawl depth | up to 15 levels |
| Mirror retention on our servers | 72 hours, then automatically purged |
Exceeding a limit returns an error rather than a charge. Deliberately structuring your usage to evade these limits — multiple accounts, rotating networks, scripted signups — is a breach of these terms.
6. We are a neutral technical pipeline
EZ Website Backup is a general-purpose tool that acts only on input supplied by the user. We do not select, solicit, encourage, or endorse any particular target. We do not review, approve, or pre-screen the URLs users submit, and we do not monitor the content of the pages retrieved on a user's behalf. We have no editorial control over, and no knowledge of, what any given crawl contains.
Retrieved content is stored transiently, at the direction of the user, for the sole purpose of assembling that user's archive, and is automatically deleted on the schedule described in our Privacy Policy. We claim no rights in it and we do not use it for any purpose of our own.
Nothing in this section limits our right to act once we are put on notice. If we receive a credible complaint, infringement notice, or legal demand, we may suspend the account, delete the affected data, and cooperate with lawful requests. Site owners and rights holders can reach us at ezwebsitebackup@aicanadiansolutions.ca with the target domain and the time window in question; we will investigate and respond.
7. Disclaimer — the Service is provided "as is"
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, statutory or otherwise, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, accuracy, or non-infringement.
Without limiting that, we specifically do not warrant that: the Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure or error-free; that any crawl will complete; that the archival file tree will be complete, accurate, or a faithful reproduction of the target site; that dynamic, script-driven, paywalled, or server-rendered content will be captured; that a downloaded archive will render or function offline as the live site does; or that data will be preserved. EZ Website Backup is not a backup of record. Mirrors are deleted automatically after 72 hours — download what you need and keep your own independent copies.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, AI Canadian Solutions and its owners, employees, contractors and suppliers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, business, goodwill, data, or archives, arising out of or relating to the Service, however caused and on any theory of liability, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Our total aggregate liability for all claims relating to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for the Service in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) CAD $50. While the Service is free, this means our aggregate liability is capped at CAD $50.
We are not liable for any claim, penalty, block, ban, takedown, or legal action brought against you by a target site, its host, its registrar, or any authority as a result of a crawl you initiated. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions; in those places these limits apply to the fullest extent permitted.
9. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless AI Canadian Solutions, its owners, employees, contractors, suppliers and hosting providers from and against any and all claims, demands, actions, investigations, liabilities, damages, fines, penalties, losses and costs (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to:
- your use of the Service, including any URL you submitted and any content retrieved as a result;
- your breach of these terms, of the Acceptable Use Policy, or of your warranty of authorization in section 3;
- your violation of any law or of the rights of any third party, including intellectual property, privacy, contract, and computer-misuse claims; and
- any dispute between you and a target site, its owner, its host, or its users.
We will notify you of any claim we seek indemnity for and may, at our option, take control of its defence at your expense. This obligation survives termination of your account.
10. Intellectual property
The Service, its interface, its crawler, and everything we wrote to build it remain our property. You get a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service as intended, for as long as you comply with these terms. You may not copy, resell, sublicense, scrape, or reverse-engineer the Service.
We claim no ownership in the material you retrieve. As between you and us it is yours to deal with — subject always to the rights of whoever actually owns it.
11. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate an account immediately, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe it is being used in breach of these terms, if we receive a credible abuse or infringement complaint, if usage threatens the stability of our infrastructure or a third party, or if required by law. We may also delete stored data at any time in line with our retention schedule.
You may stop using the Service at any time and request full deletion of your account and data through the account and data deletion page. Sections 3, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 13 survive termination.
12. Privacy and data retention
What we collect, why, and how long we keep it is set out in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms. In summary: crawl archives are stored strictly to compile your file tree and ZIP, and are automatically purged from our servers within 72 hours of the backup starting; ZIP files are assembled on demand and deleted the moment the download finishes; account records are kept until you ask us to delete them.
13. Governing law and general terms
- Governing law. These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable there. The courts of Ontario have exclusive jurisdiction, except that we may seek injunctive relief anywhere.
- Changes. We may update these terms. The "last updated" date at the top changes when we do, and material changes will be announced on this page. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept it.
- Severability. If any clause is held unenforceable, the rest stays in force and the clause is narrowed to the minimum extent needed.
- No waiver. Not enforcing a term once does not waive it later.
- Entire agreement. These terms, the Acceptable Use Policy and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between us about the Service.
- Assignment. You may not assign this agreement. We may assign it as part of a sale or reorganization of the business.
Questions, abuse reports, or takedowns
One address handles all of it. If you are a site owner reporting a crawl, include the domain and an approximate time window and we will investigate.
