How to Rip an Entire Website in Under 60 Seconds

Point EZ Website Backup at a URL you own, watch the whole site pour into a file tree, and download it as an offline copy β€” no install.

One rule before you start: only back up sites you own or are explicitly authorized to archive β€” your own server, a client site you manage, or content you have written permission to copy. Downloading a site you don't control can violate copyright, terms of service, or computer-misuse law. EZ Website Backup asks you to confirm this before every new domain, and ties each job to your account.

"Ripping" a website just means downloading all of its pages and files to your own computer so you can browse or keep them offline. It used to mean installing a desktop crawler and babysitting it. EZ Website Backup does the whole thing in your browser, and for a small site it's genuinely done in under a minute.

The 60-second walkthrough

  1. Sign in and open the app. Go to the app. Every backup is tied to your account β€” that's how we keep the tool honest and abuse-free.
  2. Paste the URL. Drop the address of the site (or the exact section) you want into the big URL bar and hit Analyze & back up.
  3. Confirm you own it. A one-time modal asks you to confirm you own β€” or are authorized to archive β€” that domain. Tick it and continue.
  4. Watch the crawl. The live counters fill in: pages crawled, files found, and total size. You can pause, resume or stop at any point.
  5. Browse the file tree. When it finishes, every page, image, stylesheet, script and document appears in a searchable, collapsible tree.
  6. Download what you need. Filter by type, tick the files you want (or hit Download all), and get a ready-to-browse .zip.

What actually gets downloaded

The crawler starts at your URL, reads the page, and follows every link and reference it finds β€” other pages, images, CSS, JavaScript, fonts, PDFs and media. Each file is saved with its original folder structure, so the copy mirrors the real site. Links inside the pages are rewritten to point at the local files, which is what makes the downloaded archive browsable offline.

Tuning the crawl (optional)

Click Advanced options to control how deep and wide it goes:

Tip: for a first run, leave depth at 3 and max pages at 200. You'll see how big the site is, then raise the limits if you need the whole thing.

When it's done

Use the search box and the type-filter chips (Pages, Images, CSS, JS, Media, Docs, Fonts) to find exactly what you're after. Tick individual files or whole folders, then Download selected β€” or grab everything with Download all. The ZIP opens with a working index.html you can double-click and browse like the live site.
